History

Established in the year 2008, Saraswathi Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), under the aegis of Saraswathi Ammal Educational Trust, is dedicated to quality medical education and affordable health care. The institute's journey towards academic excellence, contemporary infrastructure and a lasting commitment to training future healthcare providers began with the MBBS course with an intake of 100 students when it received Medical Council of India approval to start the course.

In a very short span of time, SIMS started gaining a reputation for its contribution to medical education and was awarded the title of “Best Medical College in Delhi-NCR” by Brands Academy in 2012. By 2013, institutional credibility was enhanced with 100 MBBS seats formally recognised. This era also witnessed the development of academic departments, the broadening of clinical training sites and an increased focus on research and practical learning.

With the introduction of postgraduate MD/MS courses, SIMS gradually introduced new specialities for higher medical education. To sustain this growth, the institute expanded its hospital, laboratory and research facilities, upgraded libraries and increased the clinical departments and faculty strength, while improving diagnostic capabilities and patient care services to meet the growing academic and clinical demands.

Recently SIMS got permission for more MBBS seats to meet the increasing demand, and this has greatly improved its intake capacity. This is a testimony to its growing stature and infrastructure. During this transition phase, emergency, trauma and critical care services were considerably improved, and advanced healthcare facilities, specialised ICUs and modern diagnostic technologies were brought in to enhance patient care and student training.

Today SIMS is one of the best medical institutions in the state of Uttar Pradesh, providing undergraduate and postgraduate education as well as complete healthcare. Now 250 MBBS seats are training hundreds of students and interns every year. SIMS continues to march ahead towards its vision of becoming a multidisciplinary, research-orientated university by participating in national health programmes regularly.
