Overview
Optometry technicians help ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating vision and eye health conditions. The job includes vision testing, use of ophthalmic instruments, assisting in procedures and advising patients on corrective options. At SIMS, specialists train students in a hospital environment with its own ophthalmology OPD and clinical facilities.

Selection & Counselling
Admission is through a merit process based on 12th board marks. Eligible candidates will be called for counselling and document verification at the SIMS campus. At the institute level, no other entrance exam is required.
Academic Information
Subjects include ocular anatomy and physiology, refraction, ophthalmic instruments, contact lens basics, low vision management and clinical optometry. The two-year programme combines classroom theory with clinical postings in the hospital’s eye care department.
