Overview

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course is for students who aspire to make a rewarding career in nursing and patient care. The course is a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical clinical training so that students can acquire basic nursing skills, develop critical thinking skills and achieve professional competence. Students take part in clinical experiences in medical, surgical, pediatric, community health and maternity care. The program provides compassionate patient care, ethics and communication skills. Students will be prepared to work in hospitals, health care facilities, clinics and community health organisations upon graduation and contribute positively to the provision of quality health care services.

10+2 with English and an aggregate of 40% in the qualifying examinations. Science streams are generally preferred, but vocational (health care science) and art streams are also acceptable if recognised by the council.
